Why Massage?
Massage therapy is sometimes perceived by the medical community and general public as passive, that it does not engage the person to be part of their own wellness. I believe that massage is a very active, dynamic relationship and this belief brings clients to me that understand their role and responsibility in their health and healing.
There are two major problems of living in a fast-moving world: loss of flexibility and stress. Although slow in their effect, they can be thought of as silent epidemics; largely unrecognized yet wreak untold damage in people’s lives.
Tension itself is a form of resistance to stress and can manifests itself physically as chronically contracted muscles. This contributes to pain, irritability and decreased function. One of massage therapy’s primary values is its effectiveness at relieving tension in the body.
Muscles that become tense are painful. The lack of movement within the tense muscle belly prevents fresh blood, which is loaded with oxygen and nutrients, from reaching starving cells. Waste products irritate nerve endings and dull the muscle fibers responsiveness. When trapped within the muscle, they create stagnation.
A full body massage is equivalent to a four-mile walk in relation to the increased circulation and improved neurological communication. Massage has the potential to send literally millions of impulses through the neurological pathways of your body.
Most therapies of benefit to the body fail because individuals do not proceed with the patience, persistence and consistency that is required. It takes time and molecular-cellular change in order to restore normalcy. I am willing to work together with you to help you restore your muscles and soft tissue to be the best they can be.
